Kate Eldridge’s new children’s book champions inclusive early learning

Kate Eldridge has released her first children’s book, “School is for Everyone”, a picture book designed to help young children think about themselves as learners as they prepare to start school. The Rural Publishing Company says the story uses simple choices and bright illustrations to explore different communication styles, learning approaches, physical abilities and personal preferences.

The book, illustrated by Narelle Cridland, is pitched as a reassuring guide for the move into Prep, with prompts intended to help children feel a sense of agency and belonging. According to the publisher, it is meant to open conversations between families and educators about how each child learns best, while also supporting early literacy.

Listing information from booksellers including Books-A-Million and Yes24 suggests the title was released on 26 June 2026 and is being sold in both print and overseas editions. The publisher describes it as a celebration of inclusion and identity, with a focus on the idea that children do not all learn in the same way.

Eldridge brings more than 30 years of experience in education to the project. The Rural Publishing Company says her background spans primary and secondary teaching, special education, mentoring work with universities and adult education in correctional settings, which it says gives the book a strong educational foundation.
