Aldi is updating its Mamia baby food range with improved packaging, recipes, and new finger food options, aligning with government guidelines to make healthier choices easier for parents during weaning.
Aldi is overhauling its Mamia baby food range this month, with new packaging and updated recipes aimed at helping parents make quicker, clearer choices during weaning. The supermarket said the refresh will appear in stores nationwide on a phased basis, with age guidance and feeding advice made more prominent on pack.
The move also brings two finger food products, Apple & Raspberry and Banana & Mango Corn Hearts, into the core range after a store trial. Aldi said both are suitable for children aged 12 months and over and will be sold at 85p for a 30g pack.
According to the government’s voluntary industry guidelines on commercial baby food and drink, businesses are being pushed to improve labelling, reduce sugar and salt levels, and avoid marketing snacks as suitable for babies under 12 months. The guidance, published in August 2025, gives companies until the end of February 2027 to comply.
Aldi said the Mamia refresh includes clearer age-suitability advice, better feeding instructions and recipe changes on selected products to reduce naturally occurring salt and sugar while keeping prices low. Julie Ashfield, Aldi UK’s chief commercial officer, said the company wanted to give parents “clear, simple information” when choosing food for their children.
