The trip served as a reset from the usual churn of camp runs, sports practices and unscheduled summer days, with the children spending time outdoors and the adults leaning into a slower rhythm.
The month also marked a pair of birthdays. Julian turned 10 and Mia turned 4, each with a cake chosen to suit their tastes. Just a Taste said Julian’s celebration featured a Padres baseball theme and a vanilla cake with lemon buttercream, while Mia’s leaned into “Bluey” with a chocolate birthday cake and cream cheese frosting. The family also kept its birthday ritual intact by decorating the kitchen the night before each child’s big day.
