The Family Care Authority and Ministry of Education in Abu Dhabi have introduced an interactive summer programme for children and teenagers, aiming to enhance confidence, communication, and everyday resilience through practical workshops across the emirate.
The Family Care Authority in Abu Dhabi has launched a life skills programme with the Ministry of Education that is designed to help children and teenagers build confidence, communicate more effectively and handle everyday challenges. According to the Abu Dhabi Media Office, the initiative is aimed at young people aged seven to 18 and will run across Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra during the summer break before continuing until the end of the year.
The programme uses interactive workshops that combine classroom learning with practical exercises, giving participants the chance to apply what they learn in real situations. Officials said the idea is to strengthen character formation while supporting the wider role of families and schools in preparing young people for later life. The Family Care Authority says its work is part of a broader effort to improve family cohesion and quality of life in the emirate, while Abu Dhabi’s family wellbeing strategy places children and youth within a wider policy push that also covers mental wellbeing, family bonds and financial resilience.
Among the topics covered are leadership, emotional intelligence, communication, social responsibility, Emirati values, etiquette, financial literacy, entrepreneurship and positive thinking. The eight workshops include sessions on rights and responsibilities, assertive communication, systematic thinking, banking services, public speaking, conflict resolution, managing frustration and online safety, according to the Abu Dhabi Media Office. The authority and the ministry say the format is meant to give children and young people practical tools they can use at home, in school and in the community.
The launch also fits into Abu Dhabi’s wider approach to social development. The Family Care Authority, formerly known as Dar Zayed for Family Care, operates as an affiliate of the Department of Community Development and focuses on integrated support for families in the emirate. Separate Abu Dhabi government material says the authority acts as a single point of contact for family services, while other official initiatives, including the emirate’s family wellbeing strategy and related life skills programmes, show a continued effort to connect education, social care and national values.
