Health officials and international partners are urging closer coordination to prevent malnourished children being missed by routine vaccination services.
Health officials in Islamabad have called for tighter coordination to improve routine immunisation for malnourished children, who can face extra obstacles in reaching basic health services and remain at greater risk from vaccine-preventable illnesses. According to UrduPoint, the discussion was led by Emergency Operations Centre coordinator Anam-ul-Haq and brought together senior figures from the provincial Expanded Programme on Immunisation, the National Rapid Response Unit, the national EOC, maternal and child health teams, and partners including the World Health Organization and UNICEF Nutrition. Participants said children affected by malnutrition should not fall through gaps in routine vaccination services, and stressed that stronger planning between departments and development agencies is needed to improve coverage and protect vulnerable children.
