A 2017 University of Toledo study finds that reducing the number of toys available to toddlers enhances their engagement and creativity during play, challenging the idea that more toys mean better development.
A small University of Toledo study from 2017 suggests that less can mean more when it comes to toddlers’ toys. In controlled play sessions, children aged 18 to 30 months who were given four toys stayed with each item longer and used them in more varied ways than children who had sixteen toys in the room, according to the university and the study later published in Infant Behaviour and Development.
